Ford F350 Super Duty is a pickup truck with a 1-ton capacity suitable for heavier towing and loading applications. It has a vast customer base in the US market and has been in use for multiple decades. Therefore, you can easily find its interchangeable parts from different years and other F series pickup trucks.
What Year Ford F350 Parts Are Interchangeable? Ford F350 has interchangeable fuel system parts for 1999-2007, 2008-2010, 2011-2016 and 2017-2022 models. You can swap the 7.3-liter V8 diesel engine parts for all models from 1999-2003 without any changes. Moreover, the 4-speed automatic transmission 4R100 also has compatible parts for late 1999-2003 variants having the same engine type.
F350 has several compatible parts across different years, allowing for flexibility in repairs and customization. Moreover, it also shares some features with other F-series trucks by Ford, including the F150, F250, and F450, to name a few. We will discuss its key parts compatibility across different years.
Fuel components
You can replace many fuel components between F350s from different years. Parts, including fuel filters, pumps, injectors, fuel rail, lines, and fuel tanks within the same generation, are the same. You can swap them for 1999-2007, 2008-2010, 2011-2016 and 2017-2022 models.
However, you can expect minor changes in mounting points and space available depending on the drive configuration, bed length, and engine type installed on the truck.
For example, 2001 Ford F350 trucks with 5.4-liter and 6.8-liter V8 engines have the same fuel pump assembly with some differences in sender units.
Interior parts
Interior parts, including seats and trim panels, are interchangeable for 1987-1991, 1992-1993, 1994-1995, and 1996-1997 models. You can also swap the bench seats and other interior parts for the 1999-2007 years of the Ford F350.
Interior dashboard trims are compatible with 1992-1997 models. Furthermore, the 2008-2010, 2011-2016, and 2017-2022 variants have seats, center consoles, radio parts, and switches compatible with same-generation versions.
However, there is variation in different trim levels in features like seats, interior panels, and other miscellaneous parts inside the truck cabin.
Body parts
Body parts, including doors, fenders, and hoods, are essential for maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetics of a Ford F350. While there can be variations in design and features, many body parts are interchangeable within a generation or before body style changes.
The truck doors are compatible with 1980-1996 and 1999-2007 variants. The grille and front bumper work for the 1999-2004 and 2005-2007 models.
Furthermore, you can swap most of the front-end parts for 2008-2010, 2011-2016, 2017-2019, and 2020-2022 variants.
Wheels
Wheels are interchangeable between different years, having the same bolt pattern, offset, and overall wheel size. Three common bolt patterns in all years from 1987-2023 are 8×165.1, 8×170, and 8×200.
Therefore, you can swap between them with identical specifications. Otherwise, you have to replace other parts of the wheel assembly, like hubs and their fittings, to install the wheels. Brake and suspension parts also have interchangeability according to the wheel dimensions.
Two wheel sizes are 17 inch and 18 inch from 2005-onwards Ford F350 models. Moreover, some trim levels also have a change in wheel parts like center hubs and aluminum alloy rims.
Engine parts
It has a 5.4-liter V8 engine with same parts from 1999-2004 and 2005-2007 models. 7.3-liter V8 diesel engine parts are swappable for all models from 1999-2003.
2nd generation models from 2008-2010 having 5.4-liter V8 and 6.8-liter V10 engines have their parts interchangeable.
Furthermore, you can swap parts or complete engine assemblies for 6.2-liter V8 gasoline and 6.7-liter V8 diesel engines for 2011-2016 models. 7.3-liter V8 engines have compatible parts in 2020-2022 variants of the Ford SuperDuty trucks.
Headlights
You can swap the headlights for 1987,1990-1991, 1992-1995, and 1996-1997 models. 1999-2004 models also have complete headlight assemblies, or their parts, like bulbs and wiring harnesses, are interchangeable with some modifications.
2005-2007 models have headlight design changes along with some alterations in front-end parts. Furthermore, 2008-2010 trucks have compatible headlight assemblies.
2011-2016 models of the Ford Super Duty pickup trucks have identical LED headlight designs, while 2017-2022 trucks have changes in grille design and integrated headlight design.
Exhaust system parts
The compatibility of exhaust parts for the Ford F350 depends on various factors, including year, engine type, and EPA requirements. Catalytic converters works for 1987-1997 models with the same engine options.
1999-2007 models also have compatible exhaust system parts. Furthermore, you can swap the exhaust back pressure tube and other components for 2008-2010 models with a 6.4-liter V8 engine.
Alternator
The interchangeability of alternators between various models depends on their mounting points, wiring harnesses, and engine type. You can swap it between 2008-2010 with a 6.4-liter V8 diesel engine.
The 3G alternator with a 180 amps rating is compatible with 2004-2007 Super Duty truck models with 6.0-liter V8 turbocharged diesel engines.
You can swap the 300 amperes alternator in the 2011-2016 model F350 trucks with a 6.7-liter V8 engine. 2017-2022 variants also have compatible alternators with the same engine type. If you install a high current rating design, you have to change the wiring accordingly to avoid heating or fire issues.
Starter/electronics
Most electronic parts, including sensors, wiring harnesses, and starters, are interchangeable for the 1987-1997 years with the same engine type installed. The starter motor is swappable for 6.9L and 7.3L diesel engines for 1985-1994 variants.
You can also swap the starter motor and other relevant parts between the 2008-2010 models with V10 engines.
Oxygen sensors are compatible with 2017-2020 model trucks having 6.2-liter V8 engines. Cam position sensors with a 7.3-liter engine are compatible with 1994-1996 variants.
Transmission system
Ford F350 models from late 1999 to 2003 had 7.3-liter V8 Turbo Diesel engines and the 4R100 4-speed automatic transmissions. You can swap the transmission parts between the two models with the same engine option as the bolt pattern changes with the engine type.
Moreover, 4-wheel and 2-wheel drive configurations also have differences in their transmission design. Models before early 1999 had different engine and transmission options.
Later variants have changes in torque converter design, pulse width modulation, and sensors like turbine and output speed for gear shifting.
You can also swap the 6-speed automatic transmission 6R140 for 2011-2016 variants having the same engine option and drive configuration.
Suspension parts
You can replace suspension parts between same-generation models of the Ford F350. For example, rear shocks are swappable for 2011-2016 and 2017-2022 models.
Relevant parts in the drivetrain, including driveshafts, are interchangeable for the 1991-1993 and 1994-1997 variants.
However, there is a difference in its length and diameter between the 1993 and 1994 models. Front-end suspension parts are swappable for 1999-2004 and 2005-2007 models.
Furthermore, 2008-2010 variants have compatible front and rear suspension parts for all variants, but you will find some differences in the different trim levels of the truck.
