Can You Put a Leveling Kit on Top of a Lift Kit?

Can You Put a Leveling Kit on Top of a Lift Kit?

Many people are adding a leveling kit on the lift kit to change the aftermarket suspension system to increase the height of their trucks and get more ground clearance.

Can You Put a Leveling Kit on Top of a Lift Kit? You should not put a leveling kit on top of the lift kit because it will disturb the stability of the steering wheel. In addition, it will also cause poor handling issues while turning vehicles and cause a problem at high speed because of the poor center of gravity. In addition, the manufacturers also do not recommend doing this to your vehicle. However, many people are doing this because they want to increase the height of their vehicles for off-road driving.

When you are doing this, it can also change the structure of your truck and make it less attractive. The change in exterior occurs because the frame becomes more prominent due to increased height.

What is leveling kit and lift kit?

A leveling kit is mainly used to raise the front end of the pickup trucks to balance them with the rear end. In addition, it also provides excessive space for the adjustment of large tires.

It is also beneficial while moving on snowy and muddy roads because of ground clearance. In addition, it will protect the front bumper and headlights from mud and snow.

It will also help to provide the proper air crossing for different parts, including the radiator and air conditioner, for their appropriate functioning.

It cannot affect the other parts because it can only raise the front side 2 to 3 inches above to match it with the rear end.

On the other hand, a lift kit can raise the height by about 4 to 5 inches. Therefore, it is more helpful for off-roading because of more ground clearance.

During off-road driving, your vehicle is less vulnerable to damage due to road obstacles and hurdles.

The lift kit is majorly a suspension system in which you install new shocks, control arms, and other necessary parts to increase your truck’s height.

Why would you put a leveling kit on the top of the lift kit?

Many people want to stack up the leveling kit on the top of the lift kit for different purposes. You can do it at your own risk because it becomes problematic afterward.

The people are doing so because of the following reasons

Achieve maximum height

The primary purpose of stacking these two components on the top side is to achieve the maximum height.

If someone wants to increase the pickup height by about 6 to 8 inches, he can put the leveling kit on the top side with a suspension kit.

People think that adding both will become beneficial, and they can easily increase the vehicle height according to their requirements.

You can increase the height of your vehicle up to 8 to 9 inches, then it is a suitable option to add 2 to 3 inches of leveling kit and 4 to 5 inches of the suspension kit.

The addition of both components can provide them with their desirable ground clearance. Many people do this to give their pickups a modern and jeep-like appearance.

In addition, it is also necessary to increase the height because it can protect many parts from exposure to mud and decreases the chance of corrosion.

Off-road driving

Many people want to stack up both components for off-roading during summer days.

These roads are different from public ones, have uneven surfaces, and include hilly areas.

Different things can damage your vehicle during off-roading and affect its axle and suspension system.

You cannot take simple trucks for these types of trips because it can increase the risk of damage.

Many of my friends said that they stack up the leveling kit on the top of the lift kit in their pickups to make it look cool.

These roads also have a lot of sand and dust, which can get stuck in different parts without proper ground clearance.

Expensive to install the large lift kit

Many people also place the leveling kit on the top of the lift kit because it is expensive to buy a single large suspension kit for your pickups.

The lift kits with 7 to 8 inches height or more are expensive to purchase because of their higher modification.

You can reduce your expense by using these two in your trucks and benefit from their usage.

Things to consider when adding the leveling kit on the top of the lift kit

The lift kit must be of high quality to install a leveling kit on the top side. The suspension kits come in a different price range depending on their quality and manufacturing.

You should purchase the ones that have good quality so they can bear the weight and stress of the other ones.

Moreover, the ones with good quality are only suitable for this purpose because low-quality ones cannot resist this change.

In addition, the low-quality ones also have less durability, and they can also make your ride uncomfortable while driving on bumpy roads.

You can also hear the squeaking sound and vibrating movement due to low-quality ones. You should take care of the quality if you want to add the leveling kit on the top side.

It will also prevent the different components from significant damage and increase the longevity of its parts.

Is it safe to add leveling kit on the top of the lift kit?

It is not safe to add leveling kit on the top of the lift kit because it has different consequences, which can void your truck’s warranty.

Moreover, it can also increase the risk of accidents due to undesirable changes. There are the following problems that people need to know which can occur after installation.

Steering instability

The steering stability is vital while driving on highways, bumpy roads, and even off-roading.

When you stack up these two components, it will disturb the stability of the steering wheel due to increased height.

The poor stability will cause movement at one side, which can cause a collision with another vehicle. The unstable steering wheel will also increase the risk of accidents.

Due to inappropriate handling, you cannot drive at maximum speed to reach the destination in the required time.

Moreover, you can also have to take it to the mechanic for proper setting if you are doing this with your pickups.

People are also uncomfortable and disturbed due to this instability issue. In addition, the clunking and vibrating sounds also start to come from these parts due to unequal weight distribution.

Poor handling due to increased height

Stacking leveling kit with the lift kit will increase the height more than the maximum level. In addition, the heightened tucks are challenging to control on highways.

These are also difficult to handle while moving on bumpy roads. You cannot keep the balance, and it can disturb the vehicle’s alignment.

More height will also disturb gravity, and due to this issue, it becomes a problematic situation to maintain stability for a comfortable ride.

Poor and uncontrollable handling will also make you more vulnerable to accidents and put your life at risk during driving.

In addition, you should also take care while driving at high speed and turning points because it can cause a rollover.

Driving at a slow and average speed is recommended in this situation because of the center of gravity issue.

Affect the suspension system

When installing the leveling kit on the top of the lift kit will badly affect the suspension system.

They will wear out and go bad early and need proper maintenance and care. You should need to check the axle, ball joints, shocks, and other parts after every six months that they are working well.

Moreover, it cannot provide a smooth ride because of stress on the suspension components, eventually causing vibrating movement on bumpy roads.

Not recommended by the manufacturer

The companies also state that you can do this at your own risk, and the company will not be responsible for any significant damage.

The installation of a leveling kit on the top side of the suspension kit is not recommended by the company because you are adding significant changes.

These changes are also more than the recommended ones for this component. More changes than the recommended ones will negatively affect your pickup truck and increase the maintenance cost.
