East To West RV is the manufacturer of the Tandara fifth wheel. It is constructed with high-quality materials and better construction techniques to minimize warranty problems. It is a 4 season RV with an efficient heating and cooling system to make your trip comfortable. However, people occasionally face issues in this trailer while driving, making their trip unpleasant.
Tandara Fifth Wheel problems include no power supply to the backup camera, cracks on roof caulking, chipped microwave plate, damaged refrigerator doors, poor labeling of gray and black tank valves, and squeaking of floors.
I tried most RV brands because I love planning trips with my family during summer vacations. Last year, I planned to own the Tandara Fifth Wheel because it is a new brand famous for its reliability. I called my friend to take reviews about the trailer because his brother also owned it two years back.
My friend’s brother recommended that I avoid this RV because of its issues, which can ruin your trip. I took reviews from others but received positive and negative reviews depending on their experience. However, I was curious about their reliability, so I owned it and started my trip. I did not face any serious problems on the road, and minor issues are common in RV.

No power supply to a backup camera
A backup camera is the safety feature mounted in most vehicles, including RVs, semi-trucks, and luxurious cars. It is helpful to reduce the risk of accidents and make the driving safe on the road.
These cameras are installed at the end of the fifth wheel to give a clear view of the road.
Backup cameras allow you to see the things that are behind your RV. It decreases the risk of accidents and collisions, which usually occur because of poor visibility.
It gives a real-time view of your towing vehicle touch screen. They get power from the electric connectors that are connected to the trailers.
Sometimes, backup cameras stop functioning in Tandara Fifth Wheel, and the screen becomes blank. My friend’s brother also faced the backup camera issue. He told me he checked the backup camera lens and cleaned it because mud and dust also affect their functioning.
However, the issue was not resolved after cleaning the camera lens. He checked the wires connected to the power supply, which were broken. He replaced the broken wires with new ones to ensure the power supply to backup cameras.
You should also check the electric connectors and ensure tight connections in the pins. Power supply issues can also come because of their loose connections and broken and corroded pins.
Check the wires that are mounted inside the cameras. Tighten the loosely connected wires so they can supply power to these devices.
Cracks on roof caulking
Self-leveling sealants or caulks are used on RV roofs to provide a protective layer to the rubber material. In addition, caulking material is also beneficial to seal the seams and area around vents and other rooftop accessories.
Cracked and chipped caulking material makes the roof insecure and allows water, air, and dust to come inside. Cracked caulking makes small but invisible holes in the rubber roof, which damages the interior accessories.
Roof caulk chipping is common because of poor surface preparation before its application. In addition, I also faced the same issue while driving on the road.
I noticed that my bed mattress seemed cold and wet. I used the hairdryer to dry it because I thought it happened due to water spillage or moisture difference.
I became worried and climbed on the roof to check the roof seams and caulking material.
The caulking material from the vent side was cracked, and water was coming inside from the cracked surface, making the mattress wet. I took out the sealant from my RV to seal the cracked area.
I scrapped the old sealant with the sandpaper and applied the new caulking material to seal the cracked surface.
Chipped microwave plate
Tandara Fifth Wheel is equipped with many amenities, including a refrigerator and microwave, for the ease of their customers and to make their traveling experience comfortable.
Microwave ovens have glass plates made of high-quality glass material that can withstand the heating temperature.
I put my burger inside the microwave for dinner. I heard the unusual sound from the microwave, but I ignored it. I heard the same sound again and turned off the microwave to check the origin of the sound.
I thought it could be because of the overheating of food material, but my burger was still cold. I took the burger from the plate and saw a small chip on the glass plate’s glass material.
Small hairline cracks can come in the glass material when it ages and cannot withstand high temperatures. I did not use the chipped plate because heat can also cause the shattering of glass material. I replaced the plate and put the new one in the microwave.
Damaged trims or refrigerator door
Refrigerator doors contain trims and panels on their sides for decoration purposes. These trims and panels can get damaged because of their age and incorrect installation.
These can also come off from the refrigerator doors because they use incorrect gluing material for installation. I also faced the same issue and contacted the East to West RV because they manufacture the Tandara Fifth Wheel.
They booked my appointment for next week to replace the refrigerator door panels. Next week, I reached there at the given time, and they fixed the issue.
Poor labeling of gray and black tank handles
Tandara RVs contain black and gray tanks to hold the shower and toilet wastewater. These tanks have valve handles so you can empty them.
I remained confused while using these tanks because of their poor labeling. I faced this issue because of the manufacturer’s defect. They did not label the gray and black tanks correctly.
The valve handle of the gray tank is black, while the black tank has a gray valve handle. I used spray paint to paint their handles with their respective color because it was highly confusing.
Squeaking of floors
Tandara RV has vinyl flooring compared to wood and carpet that does not last longer, and is more vulnerable to water-related damage.
However, you can face the issue with vinyl flooring because of its poor maintenance and manufacturing defects. Vinyl floors squeak because of the incorrect subfloor installation.
In addition, the issue also comes because of the loose nails or the gluing material. Poor temperature and humidity maintenance in RV cause the contraction and expansion of vinyl floor planks, which can lead to squeaking issues.
Frequent liquid spillage on floors affects the durability of vinyl flooring. Clean the liquid spillage quickly with a mop to reduce the risk of water penetration to the sub-floors.
Maintain the RV temperature according to the interior and exterior weather conditions to reduce the expansion and contraction.
Falling of kitchen sink
Kitchen sinks in this fifth wheel are not installed correctly in Tandara Fifth Wheel. The kitchen sink comes off from the walls because of the loose screws used to mount it.
It also occurs because the screws used for their installation come off from their wood material because of the absence of caulking material to seal them.
You can reinstall the kitchen sinks and ensure the tightening of screws by installing the caulking material on their sides. Caulking material helps secure its position on wooden material and decreases its falling risk.
