Auto high beam lights are present in Tesla cars to automatically lower the light beam after detecting the nearby objects and vehicles coming toward you. The system is necessary so that high beam light does not obstruct other drivers’ vision.
Tesla Model 3 Auto High Beam does not work due to faulty relay or blown out fuse, damaged high beam sensors, and low charging of batteries. It also happens due to damaged high beam switches, a reflection of traffic signs, heavy rain or foggy weather, and broken bulbs.
The extended safety feature in Tesla model 3 decreases the chances of collision between two cars. It is better to drive slow at night when the auto high beam is not working in your automobile to reduce the chances of collisions.
Faulty relay or blown out fuse
The relay is present under the car’s hood and near the fuse. The primary function of the relay is to supply the electric current or power for the illumination of the headlights.
It is considered a bridge between the bulbs and the vehicle’s battery. It not only provides the electrical supply but also controls its flow.
The surge of a power supply reaches the bulb due to a faulty relay which can cause them to blow out. You cannot shift between the low beam and high beam mode due to this malfunctioned part.
The change in temperature of the coil, overheating, corrosion, mechanical damage, and contamination makes the relay switch faulty.
The only solution is that you should change the relay to protect the bulb from flickering. Most of the time, one side becomes dims and starts to flicker while functioning on the other side is fine.
You should change both of the relay switches or fuses for appropriate functioning.
Faulty high beam sensors
The sensors on the front side of your car provide signals to the high beam lights. These lights adjust the illumination after receiving signals from these sensors.
The sensors give the signal after detecting the vehicles moving towards you. Their primary function is to dim the light after detecting other automobiles and pedestrians on the road for their safety.
Light illumination can obstruct the drivers’ vision and cause the risk of accidents. In addition, the sensors become faulty due to the accumulation of dirt and dust.
In addition, the damaged internal components also make them bad. Moreover, the issue comes due to their poor installation.
The frayed wirings of these sensors also cause an issue in the detection of objects. You should check their work and clean them with a soft cloth.
Take a soft cloth and wipe off the dust from their surface that is causing hindrance in their functioning. In addition, you should also reset them to fix the issue.
Batteries not charged
Charging the battery is necessary to supply power for the illumination of bulbs in your Tesla. However, poorly charged batteries cannot provide enough electric current.
These are electric cars and work after taking power from the battery source. You have to recharge your battery when it becomes weak and low.
You have to take them to the charging stations for recharging purposes. The auto high beam light does not work when the charging of these batteries is low.
You should recharge them after you see headlight bulbs blinking during driving. The sudden change in illumination also shows the low battery charging.
Take your car to the service centers for recharging purposes.
Broken high beam switch
The switch is present on the inside of the Tesla car and near the driver’s side so they can efficiently operate them. These switches are used for shifting high to low beam headlights.
Most people prefer to drive at night because of less heat on summer days. The drivers constantly shift from high to low beam light while driving at night.
The continuous use of buttons makes them faulty, and it stops working. Moreover, it can also produce wear and tear in its internal components.
You should only turn on the auto high beam headlight once to prevent frequent shifting while driving at night.
It is also necessary to change the faulty button and install the new one to fix the problem.
Reflection of traffic signs
The different traffic signs are present on the roads for the guidance of drivers and to remind the traffic rules and regulations during driving.
The traffic signs are more illuminated during the night because of their material and reflection of light. The reflection of lights from the vehicles illuminates these signs.
The sensors present on the front side detect these traffic signs as the vehicle is heading towards you because of their light.
It does not work normally and shifts towards the low beam when nothing is in front of you. It can make the drivers annoying and also confusing during driving.
Heavy rain and snowy weather
Driving Tesla cars in heavy rain and snowy conditions also interrupts the functioning of these sensors. The moisture causes damage to its internal components, including electrical circuits and wires.
It cannot provide signals due to damaged wires and moisture in them. In addition, the vision also becomes blurred due to rainwater on this part.
Sometimes the snow accumulates on their surface when you park them outside on winter days. Removing the snow and water droplets from them before driving is necessary.
Use a dry cloth to clean the moisture and layer of ice from its surface. Moreover, you can also spray their surfaces with water-repellent sprays to get rid of moisture.
Broken bulb
The bulb is present in these Tesla Model 3 headlights that provide illumination during driving. However, the bulbs are burnt out and do not provide enough light for driving.
You cannot see changes in light during driving because of a broken or blown-out bulb. Moreover, the glass also becomes blurry due to these burnt-out bulbs obstructing the vision.
The issue comes when you overcharge the battery of these electric cars. Moreover, the surge in power supply due to faulty relays also makes them faulty.
The continuous shifting from high to low beams makes them out of function. However, these are LED bulbs and mostly last for a longer time with regular maintenance.
You should change them for safe driving, especially during the night. In addition, the appropriate installation techniques are necessary to increase their longevity.
Avoid touching them with a finger while installing new ones because it can make hot spots on their surface.
The hot spot increases their chances of being burnt out and causes a problem for drivers.
