We will focus on multiple factors affecting the parts swap and minor differences between different trim levels to provide owners with a comprehensive guide to finding the perfect fitment of parts.

Camaro has 5 generations available till its discontinuation in 2024. Moreover, each generation has different trim levels and special editions with upgraded features.

Engine parts

Different V6 and V8 engines available in model years within the same generation have diverse specifications and design changes depending on the specific trim levels. 3.6-liter V6 LLT in 2010-2011 and LFX engine in 2012-2015 variants of Chevy Camaro LS and LT trim levels are interchangeable.

6.2-liter V8 LS3 engines with manual and L99 V8 in automatic SS trim levels for 2010-2015 have engine parts like air intake manifold, camshaft, cam phaser, and PCV system specific for each engine type in automatic and manual versions despite the same engine platform, displacement and the number of cylinders.

However, you can replace them between the years having the same engine options. 2012-2015 ZL1 models have a 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine with a supercharger, and its parts are specific for the same trim level.

Furthermore, you can replace the 3.4-liter V6 engine for 1993-1995 and 3.8-liter V6 for 1995-1997. Z28 variants have a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 engine that is swappable for the same years in the 4th generation.

The 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine is interchangeable for 2017-2019 and 2020-present years. 2017-present SS trim levels have a 6.2-liter V8 LT4 engine with a supercharger, and you can swap parts between them.

Exhaust parts

The exhaust system and its parts are specific for each trim level because of different engine variants and their operational requirements. For example, you can replace the 3” Cat-back dual exhaust system with quad tips for 2016-2024 SS and ZL1 trim levels with matching engine specifications.

LT1 models in the 6th generation with 6.2-liter V8 engines have different exhausts than the SS trim level.

Front parts

All front-end parts, including the bumper, hood, and grille, are compatible with 1993-1996 and 1997-2002 variants in 4th generation. Hood and body lines for front-end panels differ for 2010-2013 and 2014-2015 Chevy Camaro LS models.

Therefore, you can swap for 2010-2013 and 2014-2015 variants for the same trim levels. You can use front bumpers from 2012-2015 ZL1 to 2010-2013 LS trim level. It is compatible with the 2016-2023 car model, which has the ZL1 1LE style.

Furthermore, you can replace the front fascia between RS and SS trim levels in 6th-generation variants. The front hood is compatible with the 2016-2018 and 2019-2021 SS and LT1 models, but the fenders are different between the two versions.

Suspension parts

There are different suspension configurations for the coupe and convertible body styles of the Chevy Camaro.

Also, their components, like springs, stabilizer bars, and control links, have different part numbers for each trim level, including 1LT, 1SS, 2LT, 2SS, and ZL1 in the 6th generation models from 2016 to 2024.

The 1LE suspension package also has magnetic ride control suspension for SS and ZL1 2017-onwards models and base LT trims from 2019-onwards. You can swap suspension parts between 2010-2015 variants for the same trim levels.

Brake parts

Brembo brake parts are not compatible with 18-inch wheels in LS trim levels for 2011-2015. They have disc brakes, and you can change their parts. On the other hand, the SS trim level has Brembo brake calipers.

It requires a lot of modification work and change of wheels to fit them on LS or V6 models. . 2016-2023 variants have their front brake parts, including rotors, calipers, pads, and lines, are compatible with various RS, SS, and LT models with minor modifications.

However, the electric parking brake system on the rear is different between SS and RS variants.

Computer Module

You cannot replace the ECM, BCM, PSCM, EBCM, and TCM between any cars in the 6th generation from 2016-2024 without aftermarket reprogramming or reflashing that can void the warranty.

However, there are ECMs from third-party vendors with reflash or tuning services to make them work on your car.

The same is the case for the 4th and 5th generation from 1993-2002, and 2010-2015 as ECM is VIN-specific of your vehicle and needs tuning according to VIN to accustom it to all security systems in the car.

Seats

Seats are interchangeable for 1993-2002 models. However, TransAm seats in 2002 Z28 models have lumbar support, and you need to make wiring changes to make them work properly. 2SS trim levels with 1LE package have standard leather seats that are compatible with 2010-2012 and 2013-2015 variants.

2013-2015 models have optional Recaro bucket seats, and you can install them if you find one from salvage stores or junkyards. 2016-2023 Chevy Camaro coupe and convertible have the same Recaro seats for 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1 trim levels with the 1LE package.

However, there can be some wiring changes according to the availability of heat, cool, and memory functions in the seats.

Taillights

You can replace the taillights from the 1993-1996 and 1997-2002 models of the car as they have identical dimensions. However, you should confirm that both vehicles have the same wiring harnesses.

2010-2013 and 2014-2015 variants in the 5th generation have similar taillights.

Moreover, you can swap between the 2014-2015 RS and SS models with a new wiring harness modified according to the replaced lights. For the 6th generation, taillights are compatible with 2016-2018 and 2019 variants.

Headlights

Headlights are swappable for 1993-1996 and 1997-2002 models. They are interchangeable for 2010-2013 and 2014-2015 variants for LS trim levels because of changes in wiring harness and connectors.

For ZL1 variants, they are compatible with 2012-2015 variants as they have the same front bumper for all of them.

Furthermore, 2016-2018 model headlights are compatible, having similar fittings and wiring.

Interior parts

Dashboard parts, trim panels, and radio bezels are interchangeable for the 1993-1996 and 1997-2002 models except for the yellow lettering in the instrument panel in the 1993 model as compared to white in the latter variants.

The console also has the same color pattern and design as the dash panels for the 1993-1996 and 1997-2002 variants. You can replace the mechanical instrument cluster for the 1993-1996 and the electronic odometer for the 1998 and 1999-2002.

Moreover, base trim levels and SS and Z28 models have different temperature and speedometer gauge ranges for 1993-1996 and 1997-2002.

Transmission Parts

The transmission for each year is specific according to the engine type installed in the car. L99 models have a 6-speed 6L80E automatic transmission for 2010-2015 cars in the SS trim level.

Chevy Camaro LS3 has a 6-speed manual transmission TR-6060, and you can change it between the years 2010-2015. You can replace the 5-speed manual transmission in 1993-1994 variants with a 3.4-liter V6 engine.

You can replace 4-speed automatic 4L60E transmission parts for the 1996-1997 variants with 3.8-liter V6 engines.

Moreover, you can interchange the 6-speed manual for 2016-2024, the 8-speed automatic for 2016-2019, and the 10-speed automatic for 2020-2024 models with a 3.6-liter V6 engine.

SS trim levels have 10-speed automatic 10L80 for 2019-onwards, and ZL1 variants have 10L90E transmissions swappable for 2017-onwards.
